This week, ABC Perth Radio visited Cottesloe Beach, where I had the opportunity to speak with Mark Gibson about my recent success in the State Election, as well as my agenda for Cottesloe. We also discussed the first Liberals WA Party room meeting, the leadership ballot, and the beginning of Basil Zempilas tenure as our new leader.

I shared my thoughts on Basil, saying that Basil brings an incredibly positive and optimistic leadership style. He’s a ‘glass half full’ kind of leader, and his enthusiasm and energy aren’t just uplifting for the Liberal Party but for the future of Western Australia as a whole. That energy inspires and motivates the Liberal team.

Mark asked about the experience of the new Liberal MPs, and I highlighted the diverse range of professional backgrounds represented by the six new members joining Parliament. For example, Adam Hort has a wealth of experience as the former Chief Pharmacist for WA Country Health Service, while David Bolt has served on numerous boards. As for myself, I’ve led an industry association. This contrasts sharply with the Labor Party, where many candidates come from backgrounds as ministerial staffers or union roles.

I’m incredibly proud of the calibre and diversity of experience the Liberal Party brings to WA Parliament. Alongside the Nationals, we’re committed to working cohesively and collaboratively for the benefit of all Western Australians.
