Liberal leader Basil Zempilas has today announced my appointment as the Shadow Treasurer, a big responsibility that I am delighted to take on.

Over my 30 year career in business, I have been responsible for delivering sound financial performance for global corporations and I relish the opportunity to draw on my real-world experience to take the Labor Government to task on its unsustainable economic and financial management.

In my previous role as Executive Director of the Property Council, I was responsible for interrogating State Budgets and advocating on property taxes, which comprise a quarter of the State’s tax revenue.

It is my view that Labor has benefited from good fortune, rather than good economic management. They have collected and spent billions in windfall revenue increases from iron-ore royalties, taxes and charges on West Australian businesses and households, and the former Federal Coalition government’s WA GST deal.

Thank you to Basil Zempilas and Libby Mettam for your faith in me, and I will work hard to hold the Cook Labor government to account.
